HRDI VOICE MARCH 2011
|
 |
|
Is it really March already? As 2011 flies by, it's time for the latest issue of The HRDI Voice, our quarterly newsletter providing you with the latest information about HRDI events, programs, and achievements.
For the first issue of 2011, our newsletter is outstanding! In this issue, you'll find stories about HRDI’s annual Christmas event at which our clients showed their singing, acting and dancing talents, and the 2010 Counseling and Treating People of Colour Conference at which our CEO, Co-Founder, Board members, and Chief Clinical Officer made excellent presentations.
You can also read about and see photos from HRDI's Staff Appreciation Day, the HRDI 37th Birthday Celebration, and share in priceless moments from Mr. Ollie Griffith and Ms. Johnnie Mae Turmond's retirement parties.
There’s also a spotlight on the clients in the HRDI Essence House who participated in a documentary that may air in April which raises awareness about the growing incidence of heroin use in the Chicago land area.
All in all, I am sure you will find it a great read!
Lastly, I'd like to give a very special and warm thanks to Mrs. Knight, our CEO, who always has a wonderful piece of HRDI history to share with us. I know we have all grown a great deal from her wisdom and have become stronger HRDI Family members because of who she is and the excellence she represents. And to all the staff, thanks to each of you who make each issue better and better.

You can also read about and see photos of Michelle Saddler’s visit to HRDI just before Christmas. The new Secretary of the Illinois Department of Human Services (DHS) dropped by the agency’s 114th Street location in Roseland, to see first hand the work our programs are doing in the community.
Regular features include messages from our CEO and Chairman, and “Tales from the Front Lines”, which this issue focuses on our Opioid Treatment Programs, Vivian E. Summers Alternative School, and the Near West men’s residential substance abuse program.

HRDI Voice Winter 2009
|
 |
|

As the first snow falls in Chicago, HRDI is proud to publish the latest issue of The HRDI Voice, our quarterly newsletter.
As ever, the newsletter will help readers get to know more about the work that HRDI does and the clients, staff, and others who make up the "HRDI Family". In the Winter 2009 issue of The HRDI Voice, the people you'll learn more about range from Dr. Yihoodah Green, HRDI's Chief Medical Director, to Ms. Theresa Jamison, who is Second Vice Chair of the HRDI Board and has been a Board member for 15 years. There are also profiles of the new Quality Assurance team and Lonnie Salter, an experienced Case Manager who recently celebrated his retirement after 25 years at HRDI.
A new recurring feature, Tales From The Front Lines, highlights the challenges, successes, and everyday work that goes on at selected HRDI programs. This edition focuses on Christopher House, Chicago Girls, and Harriet Tubman.
The newsletter also includes a Special Feature by Robin Moore, HRDI Adolescent Outpatient Counselor, addressing the issues of youth violence and substance abuse.

The HRDI Voice

We are pleased to announce the return of The HRDI Voice, our quarterly newsletter.
Every three months, the newsletter will bring you the latest information about HRDI events, programs, and achievements. In the Fall 2009 issue, you’ll find all the news that’s fit to print about a range of different HRDI activities that took place over the summer.
It’s been a season of change and challenges, but HRDI is still on the move, making a difference in the lives of the people we serve. For example, as part of our efforts to advocate on behalf of people whom society might otherwise forget, HRDI employees and clients traveled to Springfield in June to take part in a protest against the proposed “doomsday” budget cuts to Illinois social services.
On a more light-hearted note, a fashion and talent show held in July at Christopher House shone the spotlight on the courage, skills, and hidden talents of some of our clients – and some of our staff! You can read all about it in The HRDI Voice, as well as about HRDI’s recent all-agency meeting, this year’s Vivian E. Summers Preparatory School graduation, and much more.
